Staff Update: A monthly insight into the ever interesting and developing lifes of the Powder Recon Staff members. Next time you see them, maybe ask them about there travels around the world…….
Brennen and I were traveling through South America for 4 months, backpacking in Peru, skiing in Chile, learning to tech skis for a heli guiding company. We ended our South America trip by heading all the way down to the most southern tip and explored Patagonia Argentina. This is where we unknowingly got pregnant with our little Baker. We were at the foot of Cerro Fitz Roy in a little town called El Chalten, a mountaineers dream! So of course we named him after a mountain back home. Mt Baker.
We got the job for Japan before we knew we were expecting so we came home to Lake Tahoe, packed up the skis and flew to Tokyo! We had landed the job of our dreams with Powder Recon! What an amazing winter! We found out I was pregnant around Christmas so I stopped guiding and worked with Zoe at the lodge. Thank goodness I could still work and ski! We left Japan in early March when I was 7 months pregnant. Due May 6. Baker lee Kaemingk was born 7.1 lbs and 19 inches here in Tahoe. We left the hospital on Mother’s day and had a peaceful birth.
Baker is getting stronger and is talking so much! We spend our days cuddling, laying on the beach, camping and hiking! Baker loves to camp, just like us! We are planning a trip to Washington state to see Brennen’s family in November, this winter I plan to cross country ski with him on my back and work ski patrol on the weekends. Brennen will ski tech at a sweet rental shop next door for a family who loves us and wants to help us watch the baby so we can ski together. We can’t wait to see his face when he experiences snow!
