In village support

Myoko is still a very Japanese village. There are less westerners and therefore less western influences. It is not as easy to make your way around as it is in Niseko or Hakuba. But this is why the village is so good – it provides a true Japanese cultural experience. Unlike some of our competitors, we do not simply send you to Myoko and hope you ‘work it out for yourself’. We understand that this can be frustrating. This is why Powder Recon guides are stationed in the village and are available should you need guidance or assistance.

On mountain guiding

As ski and snowboard fanatics like yourself, we understand the frustrations of exploring a new resort. It can sometimes take the first couple of days to orientate yourself around the mountain. Nothing is worse that finding that magical stash on your last day of riding.

Have you ever wished you could ‘ride with the locals’ and be shown exactly to the terrain that suits your ability? Powder Recon guides make themselves available for an hour on set days to show you around the home resort of Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen.

Ski Resort Variety

The home resorts of Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen are great fun and provide ample terrain and diversity. You may be happy riding these resorts for the duration of your stay in Myoko. However, should you want to experience some of the other great resorts nearby, Powder Recon offers exclusive day trips to Suginohara, Seki Onsen and Madarao Tangram (depending on snow conditions and demand - see below).

In addition, a local shuttle bus service operates between Akakura Onsen Village, Suginohara and Ikenotaira resorts. You may wish to use this service (a separate lift ticket will need to be purchased if visiting a resort other than the home resort).

Exclusive Powder Recon Day Trips

Powder Recon operates exclusive day trips to each of the following resorts:

In the comfort of our own private vehicles, we will escort you to these alternate resorts and have a Powder Recon guide on hand to show you areound the mountain.

Day trips will operate subject to snow conditions and demand. A notice will be provided in a centralised location in the village the night before and clients have the opportunity to sign up for an epic day. A surchage will apply and lift tickets can be upgraded. Day trips operate on a first come first serve basis.

While Suginohara is accessible by local shuttle bus, Seki Onsen and Madarao Tangram require private vehicles. This service is offered exclusively to Powder Recon clients much to the envy of our competitors’ clients.

Village discounts and other benefits

Powder Recon has been able to negotiate exclusive discounts and services at a number of local bars, restaurants and shops. Ask us to point you in the right direction.

Pick up and Drop off at Myoko Kogen Station

Let us know what time you arrive and depart and we will pick you up or take you down to the train station.

Additional Services

Powder Recon can organised backcountry tours into the remote powder fields beyond the resort boundary with experienced English speaking guides. Additional costs apply.
